Recruit Profile
Defensive minded multi-sport athlete that has developed strong communication and passing skills, solid tackling, and the ability to read the game.

My name is Kate Taylor and I am a 2024 student-athlete, currently playing for Viper Field Hockey Club in Limerick, PA. I attend Spring-Ford, one of the largest high schools in the state of Pennsylvania. I am currently in my second year as a starting varsity defender averaging over 50 minutes a game. This past winter, my club team won 3 out of 4 regional tournaments, went 5-1 in the NIT Qualifier and had a strong showing at NITs in March of 2022. This past spring, I played U19 for the Viper Spring Club Team, and we finished our local team play with a record of 13-2-1. This fall my school team finished runner up in the Pioneer Athletic Conference Championship game. Also, my school team was seeded #18 and defeated #15, #2, and #7 to finish 4th overall in PIAA districts and qualify for states for the first time in 11 years. I currently am enrolled in Honors and AP coursework, and a candidate for National Honors Society. This spring I plan to discontinue playing lacrosse and run track this to improve my footwork and speed for field hockey. I am extremely coachable and always seek to continuously develop my skills on the field and improve my conditioning off the field. I believe that hard work pays off and I am in a constant learner mindset to ensure our team makes the most of our skills and strategy on the field. I have volunteered for the local recreational field hockey league to assist teaching the K-2 grades the fundamentals of field hockey, and at the same time be a positive role model to my 8 year old sister who plays on the team. My academic goals are to attend a college with a combination of an excellent academic reputation and field hockey sports program where I can continue to grow as a student athlete and fully contribute to a team that feels like family.

Kate is a strong defensive player who works hard every single day. On the field, she has a strong sense of defensive movement that helps her read plays to be in the correct defensive position. Her defensive footwork and stickwork have improved which help her effectively tackle offensive players. She is one of the mainstays on our defensive corner unit, which has dramatically improved throughout the season. Off the field, Kate is just as committed to her school work as she is her play on the field. She takes pride in her grades and has been a consistent leader both on and off the field for our team's younger players. She is extremely coachable and is always looking for ways to improve her skill set and play. Kate is the type of player who puts the team first and will always be open to hear ways in which she can improve and how she can help her teammates improve as well.
